How We Got Here
Greatlakes has a long history. The company originally was called Greatlakes Woodworking Corporation and was started by a Chicago general contractor. During the late 1980’s they moved the production facility from Goose Island in Chicago to Wisconsin. In 1995 senior project manager Jerry Skowronski purchased the company, promptly relocating it to its current location in Chicago. At the same time, he updated the name to Greatlakes Architectural Woodworking.
In 2010, continuing with tradition, long-time senior project manager C. O’Donnell Winchester purchased the company when Jerry retired. Once again the company name evolved.
Today
Greatlakes Architectural Millworks, LLC is a new company once again, though with a long history. Since purchasing the company, O’Donnell has maintained all previous employees, increased his staff and added major pieces of equipment to meet increased demand.
Through employee retention, Greatlakes has the ability to harness proven teamwork and years of experience in order to continue to provide superior product and service. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our processes and strive to give our customers the best experience they have ever had with a millworker.
